One of the most loved and consumed foods in New Zealand, fried chicken, has its own festival which takes place in August in the City of Sails.

It’s the highlight of the food calendar for locals and visitors from the region who come to indulge and celebrate all things fried chicken. Held at the iconic Shed 10, some of Auckland’s best vendors will be there including Mexico, Tiger Burger, Nom Nom and more – all sharing their interpretation of the dish.

On top of this, there’ll be live entertainment, games, activities and plenty of fried chicken (of course) to go around.

If you’re a fellow lover of fried chicken, don’t miss out on this!

Drive-in movies were a relic of a bygone era but now they are back and better than ever and Auckland’s MOTAT Museum is getting in on it!

Using the great space they have in the Aviation Display Hall (which is impressive enough on its own), MOTAT will host two drive-in movies this August on the 7th and 8th.

The movies being shown are the hilarious film ‘Bridesmaids’ (7th Aug) and ‘Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory’ (8th Aug) – both of which are much loved and very popular.

There’ll be a number of food trucks there to keep you well-fed for what promises to be a great night out!

The seventh Winter Games takes place this August in a new form as a result of COVID-19. It’ll still be against the extraordinary backdrop of the Southern Alps but has been called Obsidian 2020.

Obsidian 2020 takes a different format than the traditional Winter Games NZ and is essentially a team competition that will see New Zealand’s best athletes face-off in four different events.

These events are the Backcountry Freeride, Park Jam, Big Air and Mountain Shred Challenge. They’ll showcase a wide variety of skills all of which are just as thrilling as the next.

Obsidian 2020 will take place in ski resorts in Queenstown and Wanaka and is one you won’t want to miss.
