For all the foodies out there you’ll want to get yourself to Horncastle Arena in April for the Christchurch Food Show!

There’s so much going on with this event you almost don’t know where to start. First of all, the food is great, with street food, healthy hubs, fresh markets, cheese alleys and artisan delights to sink your teeth into. There is also a beer lane to quench the thirst too.

As well as this, there are events like masterclasses and a cooking theatre where you’ll be able to gain some great tips and insights! One of the many great food festivals in New Zealand.

For the fighting fit among you, the XTERRA Rotorua Festival offers a great challenge to test the physical endurance.

Now in its 17th year in Rotorua, XTERRA is a great celebration of the outdoors with a number of walking, running, swimming and mountain biking events for athletes to enter. The courses range in size from 5.5km to 26km so all abilities are catered for.

Set in the beautiful surroundings of the Blue Lake and Whakarewarewa Forrest you’ll be hard-pressed to find a more picturesque backdrop to be mesmerised by. A great one to tick off the bucket list!

You can’t talk about events in April without mentioning Easter and one of the most famous Easter events in New Zealand is the Royal Easter Show.

The Royal Easter show is a carnival extravaganza and one of the most loved family events in the country. It has a great array of live shows, circus acts, carnival rides, exhibits and more that are great for young and old. This year, some of the entertainers include ings, Savage and Sam Ah Choo-koon (aka Mr Cowboy).

The Friday – Sunday programmes are capped off with a great fireworks display which concludes an awesome day out so be sure not to miss out!

Fans of popular culture will unite, as they do every year for the epic gathering that is the Armageddon Expo.

The event is very well organised and attracts some of the biggest and best stars in the business. This year is no different with the likes of John Barrowman (Doctor Who, Arrow), Richard Harmon (The 100, Van Helsing), Luisa D’Oliveira (The 100, Far Cry 5) and more making the trip to the capital.

In addition to this, there’ll be special events like cosplay contests, hot dog eating contests, chilli eating challenges and plenty of others to keep you entertained!

5. The 10 Tenors Tour

The world-famous singing sensations, the 10 Tenors, are returning to New Zealand for another highly anticipated tour.

Having sold over 1 million albums and sold over 3 million concert tickets, the 10 Tenors have been a hit in almost every market around the world. Part of their success is the fact that they perform a mix of classical and contemporary ballads, appealing to a wide range of audiences.

They’ve performed with some of the best and biggest in the business (Lionel Richie, Andrea Boccelli, Alanis Morissette and Christina Aguilera) and will no doubt prove to be just as popular as they were in their previous tours.

Anzac Day has always been a special day for New Zealanders as people all over the country gather in tribute to all our soldiers who’ve fought in armed conflicts abroad.

One of the largest dawn services is held every year outside the Auckland War Memorial Museum is a moving experience attended by thousands of Aucklanders every year in a show of remembrance and reflection.

The commemoration includes uplifting poetry, music and spoken word with the Museum opening afterwards for visitors.
