At a time when events seem to be getting cancelled left, right and centre due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s great to bring you news of some of the great events throughout New Zealand that will be taking place over the coming months. One of our favourites is the Wellington Wine and Food Festival which this year will take place right in the middle of summer which promises to be a prime event and one to lock in your diaries early.

The Wellington Wine and Food Festival is a celebration of all things wine and food…as the name suggests! They’ve also tagged craft beer in there for this year so if you’re more of a Pale Ale than a Sauvignon Blanc type of guy or gal, they’ve got you covered. Live music is also a staple feature of this awesome festival and the organisers are promising the very best of Wellington (and New Zealand) when it comes to the live performances.

If you’re still in the planning stage of your trip, make sure you check out the great deals on car rental in Wellington – we’re not one of New Zealand’s favourite rental car companies for no reason!

Sounds like all the ingredients for a cracking weekend…tell me more.

A popular event on the Wellington calendar

The Wellington Wine and Food Festival is a popular event on the Wellington summer calendar and one we applaud! Wellington sits on the doorstep of some of New Zealand’s finest food and drinks with the stunning wines from the Wairarapa and Martinborough regions not to mention some pretty awesome craft beers.

The event is being held on the Saturday 13th February in Waitangi Park in the heart of Wellington right on the waterfront. Usually, the event is held over a three day weekend, however, the organisers have gone hard for a one-day event this year which promises to deliver.

Gates will be open from 11am – 7pm and tickets will go on sale in early September with an early bird ticket price promised so make sure you keep an eye on the official website for news of ticketing.

The festival is a showcase of local wine, food, restaurants and beverages and if the summer sun is shining down, it will be the perfect way to spend the day surrounded by friends, listening to music and sampling some delicious food and drink.
