A letter from James Dalglish and John Osborne, Managing Director and Executive Chairman
To our customers, staff and wider community, to say that these are unparalleled times would be an understatement. This has been one of the most difficult and testing times we’ve had in our 21 years of operation, however, thanks to the amazing work from many of our people we feel well equipped to navigate our way through the murky waters ahead.
Following the government’s announcement of the shift to alert level 4 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will be temporarily closing our 6 branch locations for the duration of the mandatory lockdown period. This has already taken effect from 5pm on the 25th March 2020.
On a personal level, both John and I are devastated to be closing our branches and cancelling bookings.
This goes against every instinct and has had a massive impact on our staff and their families. We have had a tough few weeks at the office and have had to make decisions that we would not wish on anyone.
This will be the first time that we are closing our doors (even temporarily) for longer than a couple hours. Over the years, these doors have welcomed thousands of excited travelers and explorers to New Zealand.
As many of you know, we at GO operate as a close family unit. The many smiling faces that you see when picking up your vehicles, or around our offices have been with us for years and as they have grown, we too have grown with them.
We know that many of you may be feeling anxious at this time, please understand that our team are too and are trying their best to help in any way that they can. These are uncertain times for us all and we are doing our best to adapt to this evolving situation. As we write this letter, they are continuing to work hard to process your requests, queries and questions.
In recent weeks we have lost 90% and now 100% of our volumes and as a result, we’ve had to make some tough decisions. We hope you understand that as with many companies around New Zealand, we are doing our best to look after our staff and future.
We must now shift gears and focus on ensuring we are looking after ourselves, loved ones and neighbours through this difficult time. Thank you for your support, understanding and patience.
Many thanks, best wishes and love from,
James and John O
