Help BYD Atto 3

The BYD Atto 3 comes with an electronic smart key, very similar to a standard key fob.
Use the key fob to lock, unlock, open the trunk, and start/stop the car.
The key fob must be kept in close proximity to start the engine as well as use some of the cars features.

To start the car – Engage the foot brake, ensure the car is in park, and press the power button.
When selecting gears, the gear shifter will always return to the central position. To ensure you are in the correct gear you can check the light on the shifter or take a look at the instrument display behind the steering wheel.
To put the car in reverse – hold the button on the side of the gear selector and push the gear lever forward to R.
To put the car in drive – hold the button on the side of the gear selector and pull the gear level back to D.
To put the car in park – press P on the base of the gear selector.

The BYD Atto 3 has 2 regenerative braking settings. The standard setting of regenerative braking means you won’t decelerate as dramatically when you remove your foot from the accelerator, but you won’t be restoring as much energy. The high setting will mean the car decelerates faster when you remove your foot from the accelerator but will regenerate more battery power, helping to increase your range.

Regenerative braking uses the vehicle’s kinetic energy to recover electric energy as the vehicle decelerates. This helps to prolong the battery charge of the vehicle, meaning you can get more done before needing to charge again.
The Tesla Model 3, Model Y, and the BYD Atto 3 are equipped with regenerative braking. Regenerative braking can take a bit to get used to if you’re a first time EV user, so our team will make sure to show you the ropes and ensure you feel comfortable before you hit the road.

Yes, the BYD Atto 3 comes with a touchscreen infotainment system. One of the many features of this system is GPS navigation. To use the navigation, simply;
Select the navigation widget from the touchscreen’s home page,
Search and lock in your travel destination.

Charging your BYD is simple as. Power off the vehicle and, with the doors unlocked, press on the charging port hatch to open (the hatch is located above the front right wheel). Remove the rubber water seals and plug in your charger.
When removing the charger, ensure the car is unlocked before attempting to remove the charger from the vehicle. Replace the rubber water seals and close the charging hatch with a gentle press.

The BYD Atto 3 supports CSS fast charging as well as Type 2 AC charging. You can find a map of CSS and Type 2 EV charging stations in NZ here.
You can also charge the Atto3 through a household power outlet using the supplied charger. This method is ideal for overnight charging.

Unfortunately, the BYD mobile app is unable to be used with the rental vehicle. You are still able to connect your phone to the car via Bluetooth, and the car provides wireless phone charging.

The expected range of the BYD Atto 3 is 420km on a single full charge. However, the range of the Atto 3 can be affected by a few factors including driving style, weather, the use of air con or heaters. You can keep an eye on the remaining range on the instrument display behind the steering wheel.

When you hire a BYD Atto 3, there will be a charging cable provided. This charging cable uses a wall socket plug and will allow you to charge from a standard household power point. This charging method can be slow and is ideal for overnight charging, so if you need to charge quickly we recommend you visit a rapid charging station. The boot space of the BYD Atto 3 is 440 litres (increasing to 1,140 litres with the rear seats folded down). This should be enough to fit 2 large and 2 small bags comfortably.
