Whether you're a seasoned 4WD expert or a little bit more green, here are some tips for a seamless 4WD New Zealand journey:

Familiarise yourself with your vehicle before you set out. Ensure you know how to engage and disengage 4WD mode.
Ensure you have some familiarity with 4-wheel driving. Learn how to identify situations where putting the car into 4WD mode is necessary.
Don't take on any tracks that are outside your skill level.
Carefully plan your route in advance, discovering any obstacles you will face along the way ahead of time.
Always respect New Zealand's native environment. Stick to defined tracks, as off-roading can damage fragile ecosystems.
Our vehicles cannot be driven on gravel roads which are not legal and officially named. As outlined in our terms and conditions, any underbody damage to our vehicles is not covered under insurance and you are liable for all costs associated with the damage.

Where can’t I go with a GO Rentals 4WD?

There are a few roads around New Zealand where we don't allow our vehicles to be taken on. They are as follows:

Skippers Road (Queenstown)
Ninety Mile Beach (Northland)
Te Paki Stream Bed
The road to Macetown near Queenstown
Any track or thoroughfare including gravel roads that is not officially designated a road, including any beach
