Got questions?

We know that choosing mobile accommodation can be a big decision; here are answers to the most common questions we get asked.

1Where can I rent the Glamper from?

The Glamper can be picked up and dropped off at either our Auckland Airport or Christchurch Airport branches.

2What times are available to pickup and drop off the Glamper?

The Glamper can be picked up and dropped off within branch opening hours. Auckland Airport – 6:00am-10:00pm, Christchurch Airport – 7:30am-7:00pm.

3Where can I use the Glamper?

The Glamper can be taken anywhere except on unformed roads, beaches or Ball Hutt Road (Mt Cook), Skippers Road (Queenstown), Ninety Mile Beach (Northland), all roads north of Colville (Coromandel Peninsula). You can use the Glamper in any officially designated camp ground or camping area, including areas designated for self-contained vehicles only.

4How many people can I take in the Glamper?

The Glamper sleeps two and is certified self-contained for two people. If you are using the Glamper in a camping area designated for self-contained vehicles only, you are limited to only two people. If you are using the Glamper in a campground with full facilities you are welcome to have other people with you sleeping in a tent or cabin and using the Glamper.

5Can I take the Glamper on the ferry?

Yes absolutely! We can even arrange your Ferry booking for you – give us a call or an email. FYI, the total length of the Glamper and a Sports Utility vehicle is 10.85 meters long.

6How do toll roads work if I’m towing the Glamper?

You’ll need to pay the toll for your tow vehicle but there are no extra charges if you’re towing a Glamper.

7Do I need a powered camp site?

No you don’t! One of the clever features of the Glamper is its self-regulating power system. It’s got a deep cycle 12V battery that is kept topped up by a solar panel on the roof.

8What’s the Glamper like to tow?

It’s lightweight and very easy to tow. The trailer is superbly balanced and has hydraulic brakes for extra safety. You do need to observe the 90km speed limit when towing the Glamper and of course allow a little extra stopping distance and room around corners.

9How big a campsite do I need?

The Glamper’s dimensions are 5.6 metres (length) x 1.7 metres (width) X 2.3 metres (height). When attached to a Sports Utility, the total length is 10.85 metres.

10What comes with the Glamper?

Basically, everything you need to live it up in luxury camping style. There’s a gas cooker, complete with Butane cannisters. There’s all the cookware you’ll need to make a gourmet feast. And there’s cutlery, crockery and glassware for two. There’s an inner sprung queen mattress, sheets, duvet, blanket and pillows. Check here to see the full list.

11Can I use my own vehicle to tow it?

Yes of course, all we require is that the vehicle is less than 10 years old and has a towing capacity of one ton.

12Does the Glamper have a shower?

Not at the moment, but we are looking at adding one in the future.

13Is the Sports Utility the only vehicle to hire with the Glamper?

No, we also offer the Glamper with a Touring Sedan (Toyota Corolla or similar) or an Intermediate 4x4 (Toyota Rav4 or similar).

14How secure is the Glamper?

All the doors and windows on the Glamper have locks, and we provide a wheel clamp for security when the Glamper is detached from your tow vehicle.
