What to know before you rent your electric car

Familiarise yourself with the process of charging an electric vehicle, and check which side of the car the electric charger is on.
When you hire your electric vehicle, we will supply you with a charging cable that is compatible with a household power point. This method is best for overnight charging. If you need faster charging, you can visit a rapid charging station. A map of New Zealand’s charging stations is available here.
Many electric vehicles have touchscreen displays used to control functions like headlights, maps, locking and more. This is another element of driving an electric vehicle you should familiarise yourself with before beginning your self-driving holiday.
While New Zealand's electric charging network is extensive, it pays to plan your charging stops carefully. This is especially true if you are travelling in more rural areas.
