Your car rental rate with GO Rentals includes 24-hour AA roadside assistance, third-party damage and injury coverage.

At GO Rentals, our package includes more than just the wheels getting you from A to B. Your stress-free car rental experience is a priority and our coverage has peace of mind built right in. With free comprehensive insurance automatically covered, plus two upgrade options for excess reduction, you can buckle up and hit the road with confidence.

Car Rental Insurance Coverage

Our comprehensive car rental insurance covers more than the minimum required by the New Zealand Government. All of our insurance options include the following covers for a worry-free hire:

  • Roadside assistance

    Coverage across New Zealand.
    24-hour mechanical breakdown cover.
    Tesla dedicated roadside assistance.

  • Collision damage

    For any accidental collision to your rental car, hirer is only liable for the excess package chosen.*
    *If conditions under the are met.

  • Theft protection

    Insurance for car theft is provided, hirer is liable for the excess amount only.*
    *If conditions under the agreement are met.

  • Windscreen protection

    Windscreens are not excluded from our vehicle and third party damage protection.

  • Third party damage

    A maximum of $10,000,000 NZD damage cover to third party property or vehicles.

  • Third party liability

    A maximum of $10,000,000 NZD liability cover to third party injuries.

  • Fire damage

    Fire damage is not excluded from our vehicle and third party damage protection.

  • Tyre damage

    Tyres are not excluded from our vehicle and third party damage protection.

GO Basic Insurance

  • Cost per day
    $0 extra cost. Included as standard in our rental fees. Car hire fee varies depending on the rental vehicle.
  • Excess
    Excess liability paid by the hirer in the event of an accident or damage covered under the rental terms. The excess amount for this package is dependent on the vehicle selected.
  • Bond
    A pre-authorised amount to be paid at pick-up and returned to hirer if no damage is caused. The bond amount differs depending on the vehicle and hire period selected.
  • Credit or Debit
    A credit card with the main hirer’s name is required for this insurance option.
  • Cover
    Full comprehensive cover including third-party liability, windscreen and tyre damage. The hirer is liable for the excess amount only if conditions under the agreement are met.

GO Assured

  • Cost per day
    There is a fee per day for the full duration of your hire period depending on the rental vehicle. The upgrade fee is an insurance premium and non-refundable.
  • Excess
    Excess is reduced from the maximum depending on the vehicle selected. This is to be paid by the hirer in the event of an accident or damage covered under the rental terms.
  • Bond
    Starting from $0 depending on the rental vehicle. A pre-authorised amount to be paid at pick-up and returned to hirer if no damage is caused.
  • Credit or Debit
    A credit card with the main hirer’s name is only required for rental vehicles with a bond deposit.
  • Cover
    Full comprehensive cover including third-party liability, windscreen and tyre damage. The hirer is liable for the excess amount only if conditions under the agreement are met.

GO Peace of Mind

  • Cost per day
    Calculated for the full duration of your hire period and depends on the rental vehicle selected. The upgrade fee is an insurance premium and non-refundable.
  • Excess
    From $0 excess liability. Depending on the rental vehicle, the hirer may have to pay an excess in the event of an accident or damage covered under the rental terms.
  • Bond
    $0. No deposit is required.
  • Credit or Debit
    A credit card or debit card can be used.
  • Cover
    Full comprehensive cover including third-party liability, windscreen and tyre damage.

Electric Car Rental Insurance

Rest assured, our coverage options cover our electric car fleet including the Tesla and MG4, with the following amendments.

  • The Tesla dedicated roadside assistance must be utilised in preference to our AA roadside assistance. Please note additional fees will be applicable for any non-mechanical breakdowns.
  • The Tesla will require a security bond on GO Basic and GO Assured insurance options and therefore needs a credit card upon pick-up.
