Traffic and Parking in Dunedin and Christchurch
Dunedin: Traffic is generally light, with occasional peak-hour congestion. Parking includes street parking and several paid facilities, costing around $1 to $3.50 per hour. Free parking is more available compared to Christchurch, especially in suburban areas and some shopping centres. Finding parking in Dunedin is easier overall. Christchurch: Traffic is moderate, with peak hour congestion. Parking options include street parking and several paid facilities, ranging from $3 to $5 per hour. Free parking is available in some suburban areas and shopping centres, but is more limited than in Dunedin. Christchurch has more parking options overall, making it easier to find a spot. Toll Roads and Road Conditions
New Zealand has only three toll roads, and you won't encounter any driving from Dunedin to Christchurch. All of New Zealand’s toll roads are on the North Island, so you may encounter one if you travel there.
